Patient Portal
One secure place for patients to see their health data and reach their doctors.
The Patient Portal gives people direct online access to their diagnostic results, prescriptions, referrals and remote consultations. It is the patient-facing layer of the healthcare system: everything collected about a person across hospitals, laboratories and clinics, visible in one place, with the ability to act on it.
Putting patients’ own data in their hands.
Health data is generated everywhere a patient goes: radiology departments, laboratories, GP practices, specialist clinics. The portal brings it together into a single, secure view and adds services on top.
Patients don’t just see their health information, they use it: reviewing results, checking prescriptions, sharing data with a doctor or an insurer, and consulting specialists without leaving home.

Key capabilities
Diagnostic results in one place
Patients see radiology images, laboratory results and functional diagnostics from every connected institution, as a continuous history rather than isolated reports. New results appear automatically, with a notification when something is ready.
Prescriptions and referrals
E-prescriptions and e-referrals issued by doctors are visible in the portal, giving patients a clear overview of their medications and the next steps in their care, integrated with national e-health infrastructure.
Remote consultations and second opinions
Patients choose a specialist and a consultation format that suits them, including discussing results with a doctor and requesting a second opinion. Specialists’ time is used better, and patients get faster access to care.
Sharing under the patient’s control
Patients can securely share their results with a family doctor, another medical institution or an insurer. Access is consent-based, encrypted and logged, in line with healthcare data protection regulations.
Sustainable partnership
Visida Solutions is ready to commit to long-term partnerships that foster workforce capabilities and healthcare system resilience.
Proven at national scale
The Patient Portal is not a concept. It runs today as the patient-facing layer of Datamed, Latvia’s leading medical data platform, whose systems store the diagnostic data of roughly 96% of the population, combining information from more than 100 medical institutions and laboratories and serving more than 7,000 doctors.
The portal has served patients since 2016 and keeps expanding: e-prescriptions and online doctor consultations were added in 2026, with e-referrals following. It works alongside the Medius primary-care ecosystem, which connects patients to every registered clinic and specialist in the country.
Who is it for?
The Patient Portal serves healthcare systems that want to turn the data they already collect into a service for patients, from a single hospital group to a national platform. It is especially valuable where care is spread across many institutions and regions.

Closing the gap between data and patients
The European Union has set a clear goal: by 2030, every resident should have digital access to their health data. Some countries are already there, with Belgium and Estonia at 100% and Denmark at 98%. Most systems are not, and the gap is felt by patients every day.
Results stay scattered across institutions, paper copies travel between appointments, phone queues stand between patients and specialists, and consultations that could happen remotely still require long trips.
A patient portal closes this gap. It turns the data healthcare systems already collect into a service patients actually use, and gives doctors a practical channel to manage patient flow and consult remotely, improving access to care in regions where the shortage of specialists is most pronounced.
Implementation approach
Integration
first
The portal builds on data that already exists. Implementation starts by connecting diagnostic archives, laboratory systems, prescription databases and national e-health services, so the portal is useful from day one.
Configured to
your system
Branding, language, authentication and consent rules are configured to the healthcare system the portal serves. National eID and other identity providers are supported, and the set of available services is chosen per deployment.
Grows with
demand
Services are added in phases: results access first, then prescriptions and referrals, then consultations and second opinions. Support and updates are handled remotely, without disrupting care.
You get
Patients engaged in managing their own health
Fewer repeat examinations and paper copies
Fewer calls and visits to registration desks
Better access to care in underserved regions
A practical channel for teleconsultations and second opinions
Measurable progress toward the EU 2030 digital health goal
